Droopy Eyelids

UPNEEQ™: Non-Surgical Treatment for Droopy Eyelids

Pendleton Eye Center is excited to offer patients a new, non-surgical treatment for droopy eyelids: UPNEEQ™. This is the first and only FDA-approved prescription eyedrop to treat acquired blepharoptosis (droopy eyelids).

If you have been wanting to improve the appearance and function of your eyelids, but you are wary of having an eyelid surgery, you may be a candidate for this new treatment. Dr. Robert Pendleton can assess your eyelids and eye health to ensure that UPNEEQ would be a safe and potentially effective treatment for you.

Free Offer for a Limited Time

Our practice has been selected to participate in an exclusive program to offer approved adult patients a complimentary supply of UPNEEQ. This will only be offered for a limited time. You must be deemed a good candidate for UPNEEQ and certain restrictions apply. Contact our office for more information.

How to Use UPNEEQ

UPNEEQ is a topical eyedrop that is administered one time a day, every day. Each single-dose vial contains the appropriate amount of solution to apply to the eye(s). Just one drop is placed into the affected eye each day. When using UPNEEQ it is important to:

  • Remove your contact lenses before applying UPNEEQ
  • Do not touch the tip of the vial to your eye or to any other surface to avoid contamination
  • Throw away the used vial after each use
  • Do not re-use vials that were previously used
  • Reinsert contact lenses 15 minutes after applying UPNEEQ
  • Wait at least 15 minutes before administering any other medicated or over-the-counter eye drops
  • Do not ingest or swallow UPNEEQ

Benefits of UPNEEQ

  • Eyelid rejuvenation
  • No downtime
  • Quick results
  • Treatment is done from the comfort and safety of home
  • Improve your field of vision
  • Boost your self-confidence

UPNEEQ Results

Most patients see a visible improvement in their eyelid position after the first dose. In clinical trials, patients saw significant improvement in their field of vision after just 6 hours!

Causes of Acquired Blepharoptosis

Acquired blepharoptosis can impact your visual field as well as make you appear older, tired or even angry. The eyelids naturally loose elasticity as we age and the levator muscles in the eyes can also stretch, causing the eyelids to fall. It’s important to have an eye exam to ensure that the root cause of the droopy eyelids is not due to a more serious condition where surgery may be necessary.

In some cases, the droopy eyelids may be caused by an underlying neurological disease. UPNEEQ is not recommended for patients with this type of condition. There are other conditions that may preclude you from being a good candidate for UPNEEQ such as:

  • Nerve injury
  • Excess eyelid tissue
  • Stroke
  • Myasthenia gravis (MG)
  • Brain tumor
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Sjögren’s syndrome
  • Hypertension or hypotension

Potential Risks

As with any type of medication, there are possible risks such as:

  • Dry eye
  • Blurry vision
  • Eye irritation
  • Headache
  • Eye pain
  • Eye infection
  • Inflammation
  • Angle closure glaucoma

Certain medications may interfere with the effectiveness of UPNEEQ, so it is important to share the medications you are currently taking with Dr. Pendleton. To learn more or to find out if you are a good candidate for UPNEEQ, contact Pendleton Eye Center to schedule an eye exam: (760) 758-2008.
