Dr. Bill Bell was an outstanding ophthalmologist in our area for 48 years. All of us at Pendleton Eye Center wish him and his wife (practice manager) the very best on their retirement. Our practice is extremely honored to have been chosen by Dr. Bell to continue providing eye care to his patients.

Meet Our Doctors

Robert Pendleton, MD, PhD
Medical Director & Ophthalmologist
Native to the San Diego area, Dr. Pendleton graduated with Honors from the University of California, Davis, with a degree in biochemistry (he spent his Junior year at the University of Lund, Sweden). He earned a Master of Science degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of California, Davis. He then entered the MD/PhD program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Eight years later, including a move to Chicago, Dr. Pendleton graduated with a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MD from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Pendleton started Pendleton Eye Center in 1998. Never satisfied with the status quo, he is continually learning new technologies and honing his diagnostic and surgical skills to help his patients see their very best. He is excited to meet Dr. Bell’s patients and provide the same level of care and expertise they are used to receiving from Dr. Bell.

Ashley Butler, OD
Optometrist
Dr. Butler is a primary eye care physician with a doctorate in Optometric Medicine from Indiana University School of Optometry, where she graduated with Beta Sigma Kappa honors. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry, also from Indiana University-Bloomington.
She focuses on the management of ocular disease, including diabetic retinopathy, dry eye disease, glaucoma and macular degeneration. She has extensive knowledge in soft and specialty contact lens fittings. Dr. Butler has built a reputation in the community as a knowledgeable and caring practitioner, with superb attention to detail. She is a lifetime learner, who regularly attends continuing education events to stay up with the latest trends in eyecare.
