
Ashley Butler, OD
Dr. Butler is a primary eye care physician with a doctorate in Optometric Medicine from Indiana University School of Optometry, where she graduated with Beta Sigma Kappa honors. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry, also from Indiana University-Bloomington.
While in Optometry school, Dr. Butler studied in diverse clinical environments specializing in disease, low vision augmentation, cataract and LASIK co-management, and specialty contact lens fittings. She also participated with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH), providing free eye exams to the underserved in Guanajuato, Mexico. Additionally, Dr. Butler volunteered with multiple organizations, including the Junior Olympics and Special Olympics, where she provided vision screenings to the athletes.
Dr. Butler has been working in North County since 2011. She focuses on the management of ocular disease, including diabetic retinopathy, dry eye disease, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. She has extensive knowledge in soft and specialty contact lens fittings. Dr. Butler has built a reputation in the community as a knowledgeable and caring practitioner, with superb attention to detail. She is a lifetime learner, who regularly attends continuing education events to stay up with the latest trends in eyecare.
Dr. Butler resides in Oceanside with her husband Greg and two daughters, Macie and Michaela. Greg is a reservist for the U.S. Marine Corps, where he flies the AH-1Z “Zulu Cobra” helicopter. In their spare time, the Butlers enjoy playing basketball, taking their two goldendoodles (Quinn and Eddie) on hikes, and taking family bike trips to the beach.
